East of the Altstadt on Amagasakiallee, the Glaspalast, an imposing iron-and-glass former textile mill, houses the H2 Zentrum für Gegenwartkunst, Augsburg’s municipal gallery of contemporary art, which exhibits temporary installations. The same ticket admits you to the Staatsgalerie, a branch gallery of Munich’s Pinakothek der Moderne, which concentrates on post-1945 representations of the human form. The Glaspalast also houses the Kunstmuseum Walter, a private collection of classical modern and contemporary art, including 118 works in glass by Egidio Costantini.
